I just finished reading House Rules. As tormenting as it may took me to finish reading it, the ending is worth the wait, even though it's left hanging. The way this story connects all the dots to form a clear picture seems effortless. And indeed, an indubitable alternate title for this book would be, like a male version of Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper, My Brother's Keeper.
Best Quotes:
"I know what love is. When you find the person you are supposed to love, bells ring and fireworks go off in our head and you can't find words to speak and you think about her all the time. When you find the person you are supposed to love, you will know by staring deeply into her eyes"
"It's never the difference between people that surprise us. it's the things that, against all odds, we have in common."
The best - "I lean down, just like I used to, and kiss him on the forehead. It is the age-old, time-honored way for mothers to test for fever, to give a blessing, to say good night. So why does it feel like I'm saying good-bye?"
